Whaddup party ppl?! Womad was wicked man! Real taste of world music! We got Daara J, Temple of Sound, Inul, Yasmin Levy, Natacha Atlas, Zap Mama and a whole bunch more. Of cuz not forgettin our home grown Wicked Aura Batucada. Everythin was whacked! From the start till the end. Went with Momma Jay, My 2 sis, Nichole (Hana's fren) and Natasha (Nichole's Sis) and Syafique (Mona's boo). Was fun. Mum was like runnin around as though she had 6 kids.
We started out da nite with Yasmin Levy. Her music's interestin, belly dancin kinda thing. But man, that girl has got issues in life. Prob bad childhood. Her songs are all so sadistic. All about hatred, killings and what not...but what da heck..i enjoyed lookin at all those mommas out there shakin thier mASSive booty. Hahaha! Even lil kids were dancin away. As for us, we're juz gettin warmed up.
Then there was Wicked Aura Batucada! Didn't manage to take pics here cuz i was sweatin it all out on da dance floor. Everyone was up and man!! those beats were rockin the whole place down. Then there's Danni, this kid's good wit his mouth. He was beat boxin like a breeze. All those "bish bish bush bush, tsk tsk" i dunno how dat kid does it but it was good. On top of dat, he's got braces man! Imagin' beat boxin wit braces...whoa..how da hell does he do that...i dunno but he's good.
After which, we grooved to Temple Of Sound. They featured artise like Natacha Atlas and Ben Baddoo. It was like IBIZA, well not actually considerin the fact that all these happened at a fort. Well ppl were enjoin it and so were we. There was a set they did which features Natacha, and man!! it was sensual! Dancin wit Nat was like hmmmm....better not said here. Given a perfect word to describe Natacha's piece...i'd call it ForePlay. Yeah, really, her music was dat sensual. PHEW!
From Senegal, Daraa J!!!! Highlight of da whole nite. Reggae Dance Halll all nite. All the skankin and grindin. Ooooooh yes! It was pure fusion of hip hop music and reggae. Big shout out to NAT! Gurl dat dance was wickedly wet! Grrrr... I was like not there, prob some where else. It was crazy. Syaf...dude, u skank well eh. Should've gone stage and juz fliped around like a lil golden monkey. If Daraa J happen to be in your town, its NOT to be missed! Get ur guy/gurl and juz do your thang as u move with thier music...
Well there's lost more, but i dun wanna sound so wordy here. AND YES!! I WAS VERY UPSET! Didn't get to see Inul Daratista!!! Arrrgh! I was all so ready to do some booty shakin to this indonesian music called dangdut! Was my first attempt to groove to it but then again, the show's line up was planned such a way where wicked aura's performin at the same time with Inul but of diff places. There were 3 performance happening at a time in that huge fort. Sigh! juz not meant to be..
